"for models with no built-in Optical drives, external ones will not work, with a few exceptions. Nothing was written there about putting the "contents" of the ISO image on the flash drive. Putting an ISO Image (single file) instead of contents of the ISO on the USB will not work." - Apple's procedure was followed exactly. "This indicates a corrupted ISO downloaded. Loner T has been very patient and helpful but I’m still not getting far other than learning more about how my SW works and that’s something. Pretty disappointed with Apple they pride themselves on selling stuff that just works and I know **** happens but this is more than a little frustrating. If this was something along the lines of “Apple says this is not recommended so proceed at your own risk” then I would feel differently but it’s Apple supplied SW with links on how to and what to do but honestly after a lot of hours downloaded my and reformatting I have very little to show for it. But it is listed in the compatibility charts and the issue doesn’t seem hardware realated so ? I know I’m not the only one with this problem as I’ve looked around and the internet is littered with this as being more of a problem with no answers. Yes I know I’m not running a high end Mac Pro. Almost a year after the release of High Sierra on essentially a new machine with all the latest and greatest SW and updates. This is similar to the question I’ve asked that got me here. I can't believe no one else has had these problems! So I guess putting Windows 7 Ultimate on a MacBook Air is just not possible. A format activity did take place, since it resulted in losing the "BOOTCAMP" name for that partition, so I assumed it was now NTFS.įourth problem: However, when I clicked "Next," I got my final error message: "No partition could be found." The Windows installer software does provide a "Format" icon on the "See Details" page, so I took a chance and clicked it with the BOOTCAMP partition selected. (In fact, Boot Camp has no provision for choosing the NTFS format.) Third problem: After agreeing to the license, and seeing the window for choosing the volume on which to install Windows (Apple says it has to be the BOOTCAMP volume and no other), I got the error message "Windows cannot be installed on this partition." Looking at "See details," I get that the format must be NTFS, and Boot Camp has formatted it as MSDOS FAT 32. disconnecting the DVD drive, cancelling the Windows install and reverting back all the way to the "Install Windows" screen and starting again. With both the external DVD drive AND the flash drive connected simultaneously, I was able to get past the "missing" CD/DVD driver error message by black magic, i.e. Second problem: Using an external DVD drive (USB connection) instead of a flash drive failed again at the beginning of Windows installation with error message "No drivers found." Again, no browsing or rescanning worked. No amount of rescanning or futile browsing got past this blockade. Very frustrating and always unsuccessful.įirst problem: At the beginning of Windows installation, "A required CD/DVD Driver could not be found." The USB flash drive contained an ISO image of the install DVD plus all of Apple's recommended driver bundle. This just FYI, as I have given up altogether.Īttempted to install Win 7 "Ultimate"on a 2013 13" MacBook Air using Boot Camp, running under Mac OS 10.13.6 (17G65). Had been using VM fusion for ArcGIS 10.6 but Pro will not work on a virtual machine.Īny help would be greatly appreciated before I loose what remains of my mind.įYI, I wrote this up for another forum and they suggested I come here (or about here). I don't want to purchase windows 10, if it does not increase the performance of my GIS application- ArcGIS Pro. I tried Mojave, but bootcamp will not work with anything less than Win10 and I have a Win 8.1 license. I cannot afford another week of getting nowhere. This is the most frustrating problem I have ever encountered with my macs. I have erased an restored my HD numerous times to a state which was pre partition, removed all snapshots etc. Since I was able once to create a boot camp partition there must be something I am missing to create a larger 200 gb partition. I erased my drive and restored backup from time Machine, yet get the same error no matter what I do. I removed the partition using boot camp and have not been able to partition a new one. I had been able to create a boot camp partition 2 weeks ago but it was too small for the application I needed. I disconnected all drives, listed and cleared the snapshots via the console. Cannot create a Boot Camp Partition In High Serra I have tried for the past week to partition my Mac Book Pro 512 gb ssd using boot camp.
